Katrina's Letter Of The Week

October 19 · Issue #32 · View online
Every week, I'll write you a letter. A letter about anything, really. My goal is just to make you think. Then, I handpick 3 ideas and posts you'll love (and learn from).

I spent a lot of this week having panic attacks and the worst dreams, which of course led to mornings full of anxiety. Anxiety about the unknown. What the future looks like. I’m sure a lot of you know these nights all too well.
When I shared how I felt with friends and colleagues, a lot of people went into fix-it mode. They asked questions like, “Is it money? Is it a client? What’s wrong with the business?” I love all of them for checking in but they forgot something. I have an anxiety disorder. It’s not going away whether everything is perfect or it’s all broken to pieces.
Three Ears and I are better than ok. Promise.
But when I struggle, I talk because I know someone else needs to see it’s normal for your brain to be weird. That things can just feel bad for no reason. It’s really ok. You are better than ok. That you’re amazing, even if your brain is messing with you. And I want to make that ok in my workplace too. No one should feel ashamed of their reality.
So next time someone says they have anxiety - at work, on social or anywhere else, here’s a tip. Just ask if they’re ok. Make room for mistakes and flexibility. It helps.
