Katrina's Letter Of The Week

January 10 · Issue #88 · View online
Every week, I'll write you a letter. A letter about anything, really. My goal is just to make you think. Then, I handpick 3 ideas and posts you'll love (and learn from).

As a self-proclaimed self-help junkie (see our last letter of 2019), I also set “new year, new me” resolutions and goals. Around my birthday each year, I set tangible goals - things like becoming a spin instructor or hiking a mountain. Then, around December 31st, I pick a word or intention for the next year. A word that I aspire to feel and become. One that I can repeat back to myself when life is inevitably frustrating over the next 365 days.
In 2020, my word is confidence
Confidence has a bad connotation. My mind initially goes to words like “cocky” or “egotistical.” Not my aspiration for 2020.
For me, confidence as a mantra means that I’ll believe in my intuition. I’ll trust myself. I won’t let the voice of imposter syndrome steal my dreams. Confidence means I can be proud of who I am, the stories I write, and what I’ve accomplished without feeling ashamed or brash.
I want to share that confidence with other creators who I think should be so proud of their work. That’s why my first post of 2020 isn’t about my goals or accomplishments. I’ll mark my wins with friends over some fantastic food. Instead, I want to celebrate the creators and storytellers who inspire me. You can read and follow all of them in this week’s blog post. I have two more posts talking trends and a topic most people try to avoid (crying at work), too.

It's OK to not be OK. So go ahead and cry in public, if that's what you need to do.
